We were tenets at a property which, the landlords decided to sell. They are using Aspect Estate Agents Southampton. At first things were fine and we were letting the agents access the house, using their own key, when we weren't there.
We then had an incident where some batteries were taken from a remote control. The batteries were later returned but, not by the agent who took them. When they were returned I asked them to put the bin back against the shed door if they move it as, it helps hold the door on. This was met with a curt reply of ¢â‚¬Ëœthis area isn't bad. I come from London'.
We then started to notice that after visit from agents that our possessions had been moved around the house, our TV switched on and outside doors left unlocked and opened.
Things came to a head when I came back from work one day and found, after one of their visits, our front door unlocked and open and the rabbit hutch has been opened and left open by one of their agents. I phoned Aspect only for them to deny everything they had done in the past and on that day.
We agreed with Aspect that either me or my partner would have to be at the house and let them in. The agent I spoke to said he would inform all the other agents that this was the case. The next three agents who arrived at the house for a viewing tried to let themselves in. When I explained they couldn't they said no one had told them.
Things were then fine until we had to refuse a viewing because neither me nor my partner could be there. This met with a barrage of accusations of me being unreasonable and blaming me for the house not selling.
Again for after that things seemed to settle down again. This was until I agreed to one viewing and then was faced with three; one after the other. I asked the agent there why I wasn't informed. He said they tried to phone and text me. I had no missed calls or text messages from them. This led to a heated exchange which was instigated by the agent.
Later that day I had to ask them if they could cancel a viewing booked for Saturday. I received a phone call where they immediately fired off a load of legal jargon at me.
I have dealt with many estate agents in my life but, have never experienced anything like this. Please avoid this company at all costs.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Just admitted when they were at fault and apologised.
