Where do i even start? Maybe on the move in day, when we entered a dirty, smelly, looked like it hadn't even been looked over from the previous tenants house.
The house was no where near ready to be lived in, and the landlord clearly knew this as a few weeks later sent round a cleaner, and decorator (which cleaned and decorated around me) - considering by this point i was already half way into the first lot of rent.
On Sunday 15th July i returned home from work in the early hours of the morning to find an alarm going off within the house, being a lone female you can imagine i was pretty scared, on entering the house it became apparent it was the fire alarm, i checked the house and nothing, there was water dripping from the alarm, so as everyone knows.. mixing water with electricity is a no go, by this point my neighbours had been woken up from the alarm and the werent best pleased so i rang the emergency castle hill number as i had no idea what to do and considered this as an emergency.
When contacting a lady called Lousie answered and accused me of being under the influence (i was not) and told me that this wasnt a real emergency and put the phone down and turned it off. By this point i was physically throwing up and emotionally drained and so i decided to ring the fire brigade, they came out straight away and told me id done the right thing not touching it. I contacted Simon the next day, he told me to write a formal e-mail, i did so, and never heard anything back.
When my house mates moved in, there was blood on one mattress, which i admit did get sorted out, and a broken wardrobe which after 3 e-mails and 2 phone calls did eventually get sorted out.
During the second rent payment i was going travelling for 4 weeks and so would not be in the country for the rent deadline, i rang up castle hill around 6/7 times during this season and no-one answered, when i finally did get through i left a message with a lady explaining the situation, i even offered to pay my rent before i went, she told me Simon would get back to me. He didn't. So when i got a very not professional e-mail stating that £30 admission charge will be added for paying my rent late i thought it was some kind of joke.
Whilst living in the house for a year the shower (twice), washing machine (countless times), Dishwasher and oven had broke.
On moving out week, i admit, the house was in a terrible state. Everyone had packed up and left earlier on in may, and so no one had been back, we all made the effort to return to the house on the 30th June to have a massive clean up, which we did, the house was cleaner than when we moved in.
SImon popped round at around 1, to see if we were doing anything about the state of the house, in which we were and said dont worry about the time the keys get posted just make sure theyre posted by tomorrow, and the house is in an acceptable way. (in which we done)
Later on that day around 3:01 (1 minute after the keys were due in) we had a extremely threatening call from Louise who seemed really happy with herself that she'd be fining us for a lock change as the keys were not handed in on time (there is ZERO co-operation within the team at castle hill)
Another thing id advise anyone who's unfortunate enough to be with Simon &co is not to loose your keys, or forget them anywhere, because £45 for a replacement is just ridiculous, oh and, unless you leave them in a foreign country (as i did) the locks WILL have to be changed costing another £100+.
So we left the house in the condition we got it in, we got £13 each of our £400 deposit, a total of £55.
What a absolute joke, i highly do not recommend castle hill as a landlord because i have had the worst year yet, there are plenty of reliable, friendly competitors which can do the job professionally, and with talking to you rather than refusing to contact me over the phone:
'Dear Miss *****,
I have just received a message to call you in connection with my last email.
I am not prepared to enter into further discussions on the matter. I have stated my position plainly.
Yours sincerely,

Pathetic.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Just do the opposite to everything that has perviously been done :)

She's right in saying that the house wasn't very clean on 1st of July - I had instructed the cleaners the day before & it was thoroughly cleaned on 2nd July.
I spent over £1,000 on cleaning, decoration & repairs, but only made a nominal deduction of £200 for the whole group (£50 each)
We really do try offer a high standard of accommodation & service at Castlehill which I think you should be able to see from our other reviews. We are members of Unipol & were runners up in the Leeds Trinity University & University of Leeds Best Landlords Award this year.
