Having viewed a property at the earliest possible convenience, been put under pressure by the agent to put down a holding deposit on the prospective flat we wished to let, and having scrabbled together the extortionate £500 to do so, we were told over 24 hours later that the flat had already been let to others.

This of course meant that we lost out on other properties that we would have otherwise taken.

We are yet to receive our holding deposit back.

We are very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the service provided by Square Quarters.

I do understand your frustration on being let down on the property. The reservation deposit is the standard for letting agents in London £500 or 2 weeks rent is most common and this is not a fee it comes of your first months rent.

We do let all applicants know that we will confirm your offer with the landlord within 24hrs. This property was a very good price for the location so their was a big rush for the property the landlord showed us that unfortunately they got another offer just before ours and it works on a first come first serve basis. The London rental market in the summer moves very fast.

We let you know straight away and have requested your bank details via email to send the deposit straight back to you.

In this case its a lose lose situation for us and for you.
