Awful experience with Marcus Grimes &Co.

I rented a property through Marcus Grimes, Cuckfield.

It took months to get windows and boiler fixed while I was there. I spent last winter with a window flying open in the wind and a water heater that didn't work properly.
Toilet seat was also in need of replacement which was never done.

When it came time to leave, I asked if I could end the lease 3 weeks early to which they responded no. Fine, I understand. But then they wanted me to hand over the keys and get full access to the property for viewings. That's a bit cheeky.

I spent a full day cleaning the 1 bedroomed flat before I left. Not because it was dirty but because I am a bit of a neat freak. I left the property SPOTLESS. Better than when I moved in. I had replaced the shower hose and fixed cupboards that were broken when I moved in. All just because I like a neat, clean place to live in.

One particular point was the oven. The owner left greasy baking trays and rubber baking sheets in the oven. This was ignored when I moved in but I still cleaned the oven to a very high standard before I left. Even though I never use the oven and this was the owners mess.
They now want to charge me £170 to clean the oven and are complaining about

What agent could do to change your mind?
Held to its original agreement of not marketing the property or entertaining offers and discouraged the gazumping, certainly not disclosing the actual ‚£ offers of other interested parties, which was part of trying to carefully encourage a bidding war
