Unprofessional and rude with no respect for people's time.
On 2nd April, I called to arranged a viewing with this agent to view a property on Longbridge Road in Barking.
When speaking to the agents they insisted they could only accommodate a viewing at 1pm on Saturday 6th April. I had tried to enquire about alternative times due to other commitments but they insisted on this day and time so I relented and agreed to re-arrange my other plans.
On the day of the viewing my partner and I had already travelled to Barking (from South East London!) 30 minutes before to accommodate the viewing and allow time to get to the property from the station. About 25 minutes before the scheduled viewing time, I was suddenly notified by text that our viewing had been "rescheduled" to 5pm on Monday 8th April due to the agents not having the keys. No apology for the inconvenience or late notice. No question around our availability to accommodate this new time. No acknowledgement of the fact that they had been the ones who had insisted on this day and time in the first place and caused us to change our plans for it. The text came from Izel and asked us to respond confirming we would be there at 5pm on the Monday.
I responded to the text from Izel saying that it was frustrating to be notified with such short notice, and asked in future that we be given more notice as we had travelled to get there already. I also stated we wouldn't be able to get back there before 6pm on Monday due to work commitments. Izel did not reply.
On Monday 8th April, approximately 4:20pm, I received another text message from Izel stating that the appointment they had scheduled for 5pm (despite me previously telling them we couldn't be there till 6pm) had now been "rescheduled" again to Wednesday 10th April at 5pm due to still not having keys. Again, no acknowledgement of the short notice, no checking our availability. Izel had also seemingly not even acknowledged my response stating that we weren't available till 6 nor made any attempts to be accommodating, especially in light of how much we'd already been messed about. Had we accepted that 5pm appointment, we would have been well on our way to travelling to it, only to be cancelled on again.
At this point I had completely had enough. I sent back a reply stating exactly how unprofessional and disrespectful of people's time this was, and asking to have our appointment cancelled and my details removed from Haart systems. If this is how they treat prospective tenants before they've even viewed a single property, I have very little hope that they will be even remotely efficient or responsive as property management. I would not want to deal with this throughout the course of a tenancy.
I have now started to receive a number of marketing messages from other Haart agents about properties in areas we never even expressed an interest in, despite me specifically asking for my details to be removed from their systems. So I'm now in the process of reporting Haart for not adhering to GDPR.
This was my first time dealing with this agency and it will be my last. If you are a landlord who's property is listed with Haart in Ilford, and you're wondering why your property is sitting empty, consider that they are likely driving potential tenants away with a complete lack of consideration, respect or even common courtesy. Deal with this branch at your own peril.
