This is my first time property hunting, but I know bad service when I see it and quite frankly the way Haart have treated me and my partner, I will never use them again.
I called the Haart office in Taunton several weeks back now to view some flats to let. Over the phone I gave them my budget, my requirements, my job title, my partners job title, my current address, email, phone no. etc. We arranged to meet one day in the afternoon after me and my partner finish work.
When me and my partner arrived at the office several days later to attend our pre-arranged viewing they had no idea we were coming, we weren't even in their books! The agent supposed to be showing us the properties was showing someone else around. Without so much as an apology we were sent home and asked to come back the same time the next day.
The next day me and my partner returned to Haart and again we were met by confused looks, we were asked to take a seat and someone would be with us shortly.
We sat in the office for half an hour whilst a Haart employee frantically rushed around, trying to find his colleagues number. After eventually finding the number he couldn't get hold.
When the agent who was suppose to be showing us around finally arrived he didn't greet us or apologise for being late. Instead, he sat to his desk and began typing emails and making phone calls. After a long wait he approached us and explained that he hadn't any keys to view any flats and hadn't contacted any landlords or tenants beforehand to let them know we were coming; so we were sent home and our booking rescheduled again.
The third time our re-scheduled viewing rolled round I had no faith. I made my partner ring in advance and check that they were ready. Quite frankly, I had better things to do on a Saturday than sit in the Haart office for half an hour being treated like dirt, only to eventually be thrown out into the street empty handed again.
I began to take the way me and my partner had been treated personally, I believed that because we weren't married or middle aged the agents weren't taking us seriously.
It was a good job my partner did ring to confirm the booking, because once again they hadn't arranged anything for us. They had to take all our details again, because they had no record of them and all the places I had originally shown interest in were gone; we were promised to be shown something later in the week without fail.
Today, after a long day at work me and my partner wandered on up to the Haart office and to our surprise we were recognised! (I suppose only because we've shown our faces in there so much over the past couple weeks)!
My partner had once again called up beforehand to confirm and he had been asked for our details again, budget, location, other requirements... so we were appalled to be asked what our budget was yet again. We let them know and then the agent began searching on her computer for place to show us. We waited in the office for 15 minutes whilst she planned out where to take us.
When she was done she asked us if we were ready and then dissappeared, only to reappear a moment later and ask us quite bluntly 'Are you coming!?', she was taking us out to the car park behind the offices to drive us to our viewing but rather than politely explaining that we were taking the car assumed that we were mind readers.
We got in the car and started driving and then she asked what our preferred location was. My partner explained that he had told her on the phone not two hours ago that we wanted central Taunton and she explained that she was showing us two properties both on the outskirts of Taunton and had only confirmed one, because she hadn't called the landlord in advance about the second.
Reluctantly, I was driven way out of Taunton, away from work, away from the shops, away from all the conveniences I was searching for in staying central and was dragged very half-asked around a flat that I saw very little in.
It was obvious to me that the agent was more concerned about getting home on time than renting the property out. She almost tried getting away without giving us a lift back into town!
Throughout my experience with Haart I have been treated with no respect.
The way me and my partner have been passed between colleagues means that no one has built any kind of log of who we are or what we're looking for.
Each and every time, we've had to contact them first, even when promised they haven't contacted us to confirm or re-schedule anything, me and my partner have been doing all the work.
The fact in took us four attempts to see one property that wasn't even remotely what we were after is appalling.
This is the final straw, I will never use Haart again. Not in Taunton, not anywhere.
What agent could do to change your mind?
Haart could have treated us with a little decent respect and acted as though they actually wanted our custom.
They should have a communal diary, so that everyone can see who is viewing what when.
They should keep a tight record of their customers details.
And they should keep each others phone numbers and keep their phones.
They should be more polite and focus more on their customer service.
They should be more prepared and more organised.
And overall more professional.
