Following the passing of my husband in 2017, it was a big decision in 2022 to start the process of selling our family home and thinking seriously about downsizing. Having had some less than perfect experiences with agents in the past, I was a little apprehensive about getting the ball rolling – I needn’t have worried.
From initial phone call and exhaustive valuation to completion in early September of last year, Scott and his team were wonderful. Professional, thoughtful, kind and generous to a fault – all stages of the sale were carried out in a tailored, proactive and highly organised manner. I always knew exactly what was going on and never had to chase information, importantly, I never once felt any pressure or that I wasn’t fully in control of decision making.
Setting a property’s asking price is a tough balancing act and vital to get right from the outset. After considering multiple valuations, I had faith that Scott had identified the sweet spot. Having rejected one buyer’s ready to go but low bid, Bacon & Co quickly found me a highly committed (but unsold) buyer in the valuation range. They subsequently undertook an incredible amount of work to realise the deal and provide the shortest, most secure chain possible (3). Admirably, they kept the deal on track through to the end despite unforeseen and unavoidable setbacks which threatened to derail proceedings. These were dealt with pragmatically and positively by various members of the team where lesser agents might have failed, potentially leaving everyone having to restart in the economic turmoil that transpired.
A candidate for the G.O.A.T. Award, Scott’s market insight, tireless work ethic and repeatedly demonstrated core integrity elevates him into the upper echelon and raises the bar of what you might hope for when appointing an estate agent. Scott somehow always made time (I took up a lot of his time!) to answer every one of my questions and talk through all the latest developments and their potential impact. His encyclopaedic property knowledge, calm approach and caring guidance – even to his own detriment – was such an asset, enabling me to make informed decisions during an emotional time. Despite no promise of future financial gain, he has selflessly continued to aid me as I consider my next move.
A special thank you to Grant who put my mind at ease at what must have been approaching midnight on the Friday before my first Saturday AM viewing block, when I tested positive for COVID-19. Like a true pro, he responded way out of hours and got everybody updated and rescheduled by early the next morning – disaster averted.
A big thank you to Tracey, Georgina and Grant too for dealing with all the viewings so wonderfully and enthusiastically, and to Natalie and Caitlin back in the office – nothing was too much trouble.
Lastly, I believe David initially recommended our house to the eventual buyers, so a very, very big thank you to him!
Bacon & Co always kept my best interests at heart and worked relentlessly to achieve the optimum outcome, even if that meant taking a more difficult route to get there. Scott is an absolute credit to his calling; his example shines through to his team who all bent over backwards to deliver throughout the process.
Thank you all once again,
Corinne, Louise & Tom
