*AVOID- ESPECIALLY STUDENTS*
I rented a flat from Lets Direct from 2018-2019. My flatmates and I were ignored, belittled and sneered at by our property manager on multiple occasions. When we moved in, we found that the flat had no working fire alarms, a broken shower and a rodent infestation, which Lets Direct had made minimal effort to conceal- we found rodent droppings under sofas & on kitchen surfaces. We reported this to Lets Direct & after they took no action we contacted the council who said they had previously received reports of an infestation from the same flat & the same inattentive landlord.
The front door to our building would constantly break (the reason I’m giving Lets Direct 1 star is because they were quick to respond to maintenance repairs- just not to a high enough standard). The replacement locks that were fitted were flimsy/could be easily broken & I would often leave/return to my flat to find random people sitting in the stairwell using drugs, which again we reported to Lets Direct who couldn’t have cared less. At one point, there was a homeless person living in the cupboard under the close stairs- luckily none of the people using the stairwell as a space for drug use were unpleasant to speak to, but it didn’t make me feel very safe, especially when needles would be discarded outside my flat door. My flatmates and I never felt safe in our flat- I have had much more positive tenting experiences from other agencies in the years since & can’t believe this agency is still functioning !
I remember reading some positive reviews online- pretty much all of them happened to be written by young professionals (I also noticed that their own staff had left a few positive reviews)- I think student tenants are at the bottom of their priority list & would avoid for your own mental health/physical health/safety.
