I had a frustrating experience with Callum Melrose, who made the purchase of the property far more difficult and stressful than it needed to be. Callum agreed on a completion date with the seller without consulting us, and tried to get us to sign and exchange contracts on the day that we received the lease and title reports from our solicitor. We said that we needed a few days to go through the reports and read the contract before signing - he then told us that the seller was considering pulling out if we didn't exchange on that day, which we found out to be false, because we called the seller's solicitor straight away for confirmation. He also told us that we didn't have much of a say in when the completion date should be because we were the start of the chain - this makes no sense, because the entire chain would have collapsed without the first sale/purchase. This was our first time buying a house - the process was already stressful - and Callum's barrage of pressuring emails and phone calls in the final stages of the purchase did not help. Especially as his level of involvement at this point was unnecessary - we were already liaising directly with seller's solicitor. I suspect Callum was trying to meet some kind of monthly target, as the date he was pushing us towards was the 30th of the month.
