Throughout our tenancy our agent was useless. They would rarely respond to any emails and when we called to ask to speak to our agent we were told she would call us back, which again rarely happened. When moving out of the property we received very little information about the procedure and would only be told something when we contacted them. After much deliberation it was finally decided how much of our deposit the landlord would keep and how much we would get back. I received an email stating that a check would be sent out but then shortly after received another email stating we were £585 in rent arrears and would not be receiving our deposits until this was sorted. Now at this point we had been moved out of the house for over a month and this had never come up before. I was informed by our agent that a problem had occurred with their accounts department and they had not allocated the rent to the right account-therefore admitting the problem was their fault. After being told this I emailed and phoned my agent over ten times and received not a single reply. I had to take our case to an independent body to reviewe as the agency refused to return any calls or emails. This independent body decided that bairstoweves were at fault and had provided no proof as to why they were not returning our deposit. We finally got our deposits back over three months after leaving the property and I received a message from the agent saying 'I hope this hasn't put you off renting with us again!' Frankly the service we received from bairstoweves was shocking throughout the tenancy. Once they have you in a property they could not care less about you. I would advise everyone I could never to deal with this company as I have rented with numerous agencies and they are by far the worst. Disgusting.
What agent could do to change your mind?
The agent was useless. She never responded to emails and rarely answered phone calls. She doesn't know the meaning of customer service and seems completely incompetent at being in charge of a branch! I don't know how she got to the position she's in but someone needs to review it because she's certainly lost any further custom from myself or my housemates for Bairstoweves and I advise anyone I can not to have any dealings with them.
