We rented a property with Morris Dibben, and from the get go, the organisation and communication from them was horrific. We had a property with no floor in the living room for 4 weeks and a shower that was out of use for 3, and was not offered any reduced rent. We decided to complain and received £200 compensation which was welcomed, however we felt we should have been entitled to more. Also when we moved in, the place was incredibly dirty, with the fridge not even being wiped down, mould and limescale in all the bathrooms, a lot of glass and cigarette buds all over the garden space, and just general unhygienic living spaces. During the course of our stay in the property, half way through our landlord decided to move letting agencies. We were told that our deposit was protected and would be transferred over to the new agencies deposit scheme.
Upon moving out, we were hit was a cleaning bill of £120 for some limescale on the showers (which was a lot worse when we moved in) from the new lettings agency. Due to previous communications with Morris Dibben being extremely stressful and needing our deposit back ASAP so we could afford the cost of living, we decided to just accept the £120 deduction of our deposit, to get our deposit back quicker. This did not happen. After not receiving our deposit back with the first 10 days of moving out, we did some investigating and discovered that Morris Dibben had not transferred our deposit over to the new agency as promised and agreed. We were in a lot of communication with Morris Dibben and even after giving our bank details over in multiple different ways (I believe we gave them to Morris Dibben over email twice, and then on online portals twice too), 42 days since moving out, we still do not have our deposit back. They have made it extremely difficult to obtain the deposit and we are horrified by the service that we have received by them.
We are a group of young professionals, two of which work for the NHS, and one of us a teacher, and we are offended by the service that we have received by Morris Dibben. We would not recommend to any young adults, or students who Morris Dibben may believe they can take advantage of.
