Avoid the RNL deathtrap.
I did not think the situation in the Montpelier flats could get any worse, then I found out the residents were issued evictions, soon afterwards increasing the rent to way more than the flats were worth to force them out and become at risk of homelessness.
To top it off, this has been during the pandemic when most residents were furloughed, working from home, and other residents working in hospitals. I believe mold problems had become so severe that a resident ended up in hospital, again the pandemic puts this person at extreme risk in a hospital with poor lung health. I believe the lack of insulation and being left without hot water makes this recovery period more difficult for the residents who were recovering from COVID 19 (while being forced out of the flats). When people doing repairs would also turn up illegally and not wearing PPE, which is so dangerous for vulnerable people. Not to mention the fire alarms in disrepair and sharp nails lying around!
Even if we were not in the middle of a pandemic, these issues are extremely dangerous to our health. RNL have a responsibility to prevent all of these problems.
Honestly, it sounds like a deathtrap to me. Simply, RNL should not still exist.
