Living in an RNL run property has been horrific!
When I first moved into Montpellier Terrace, the flat hadn't been inspected and was in a disgusting condition (oven covered in food, freezer wasn't defrosted, urine on the toilet, mould, damp, rusty nails in my cigarette infused carpet, just a few to mention!)
Me & my mum had to spend 2 days cleaning and even after asking RNL many times to send someone to clean, noone showed.
The problems didn't end there! My bedroom was so damp and mouldy I became seriously ill, my belongings went mouldy and damaged! The bedroom was nearly 90% humidity and absolutely freezing! After contacting RNL many times and having to sleep in wooly hats, 3 duvets, electric blanket even in summer, it seems they didn't want to help me quickly! I was forced to find myself another place to live on and off for 4 months!! During a pandemic!!
IT TOOK THEM 7 MONTHS OF MY CONTRACT FOR THEM TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUES!!
7 months I was struggling and uninhabitable conditions. It's not just me, many in the block have been through the same issue! We deserve compensation. RNL need to sort themselves out and help the tenants not just the landlords!
