FOXTONS MADE ME HOMELESS:THEY TOOK MY RENT PAYMENT,ZERO DEPOSIT AND STANDING ORDER, AND NO REFUND AND NO HOUSE!!! IF YOU ARE A TENANT,BE WARNED!!! DO NOT USE FOXTONS,NEVER EVER!!!
The Foxtons Putney Office showed me a 3 bedroom house on Thursday. I put in an offer. My offer was accepted. The Foxton letting agent pushed me. Referencing, payment of rent for first month and sign up and payment to Zero deposit scheme were all completed on Friday morning, I wanted to move in on Saturday and Foxton said that was possible. I saw that Barnard Marcus, did also have a to let sign up. On Thursday a letting agent from Douglas & Gordon and a woman came out of the house. The Foxton letting agent explained to me that the landlord had let the house to some people, they had signed everything, but did not pay anything, and disappeared. I had just been scammed by Lawsons & Daughters and LDB who were desperate to sell a substandard and misleadingly advertised flat to me. I thought Foxtons are a respectable letting agency. The letting agent told me that there was a couple who lived abroad and wanted to come to the UK in 3 weeks (did they have a visa?) and who were interested in the house, but because I wanted to move in immediately, the landlord had preferred and chosen me. On Friday once my references had come through, I had every reason, with all the payments made, to believe that the landlord would let the house to me. Foxtons demanded that I set up a standing order for monthly rent. The landlord wanted to see me in person, so I met with him and the letting agent at the house. The landlord said several times that he thought that he can work with me. He showed me the house. He then said that he had never talked to the couple who were interested (how bizarre!). He told me, that out of courtesy, he wanted to do a video call with them that evening. Very strange. He said the couple were living in Israel. The landlord is an Arab with an Arabic name. Using common sense, it is impossible to imagine that an Arab would rent a house to a Jewish couple, and in the first place, that a Jewish couple would rent from an Arab landlord in London. Well, the Foxton letting agent assured me all the time that the house was mine. During my second viewing, I asked the landlord about the yellow coloured ceiling in the living room which I had not seen before, he said there was or is a leak. There was also a window in the bathroom that did not shut. And a window in the left room upstairs that did not open fully. And there were 3 beds, and I only need one, the removal of the 2 extra beds was a condition of my offer. Well, I left the house with every reason to believe that I would be moving in. Now, on Friday in the evening, I get a call from the letting agent at Douglas & Gordon. She asked me, "what is wrong?". She said that her Manager had told her that the landlord had put the house new onto the market that day, with Savills. I went online and checked and it was true. I texted my letting agent, left him a voicemail, he did not respond. In the afternoon I had spoken with the letting agents Manager. He had yelled at me and put the phone down and I complained. I searched for the landlord in the telephone directory, then I found him on LinkedIn and connected via SalesNavigator. I think it was 11at night or so when he told me he had chosen the couple. When I then asked him why he had brought the house new to market with Savills, and mentioned that he had also deployed Townsend, he said, he wants to create competition. I was in total shock. I had to move out of my flat on Saturday. It was very confusing because the Foxton letting agent had assured me that Foxtons had been managing the house for the last 4 years. However, when I had met the landlord, he changed his story and told me that the landlord was managing the house. When I first met the letting agent, he told me that the landlord was living outside London. When I met the landlord, the landlord told me that he lived only 3 minutes away from the house and that he (and not some tenant) had lived with his family in the house for the past 5 years. Because I trusted and believed Foxtons and thought they are a good company, I became homeless on Saturday and had to move into a hotel for the time being, incurring substantially higher living costs than before. I paid around 200 Pounds for the transport of my possessions into a storage facility. I paid around 100 Pounds for storage for one week. I paid probably around 300 Pounds in taxi fares. I do not have access to items that are vital because they are in storage. I have not received the rent payment for July back from Foxtons. I have not received the money from Zero Deposit back. Foxtons are corrupt, through and through. I lost all appetite, have insomnia and my body is aching all over and so weak that I fear I may collapse. I can't live a normal life anymore. Foxtons harmed me. In storage I met a couple. They told me the same thing happened to them, also with Foxtons. The public needs to be made aware that dealing with Foxtons is dangerous and unethical and do not care.
