If you sign a contract with them, you will be forced to commit even if the living conditions are unbearable and unhygienic.
For the past 6 months I have been complaining about a terrible smell of urine in my flat (flat 3, 1 seafield rd).
When I realised after 4-5 months that Hovelets was not going to be able to address the problem, I asked to leave my contract early because I could no longer handle it.
This is something that should have been accepted immediately. Instead, they told me that if I find someone to take my place then I can leave, as if the terrible smell was not their issue.
I signed a contract for a flat which I can live comfortably in. Hovelets did not provide me with that, which is a breach of contract from their part.
I should have been offered to be released from the contract as soon as I said that it is unbearable for me (probably the first email), but definitely when I informed Hovelets that I was forced to stay at my friend's house because of the smell.
In general, do not assume that you have rights when you sign a contract with Hovelets. However bad the living conditions are, you will be forced to deal with it.
