My experience with Life Residential was quite bad from the get go. We were supposed to move in to Apartment 106 in a building called The Crescent (the building is awful too, but that asks for a separate review). On the day we moved in, we arrived to a filthy, unwashed apartment, with a broken living room window that was sealed shut without the possibility of opening it, with yellow stains in the bathroom and mattress, basically the apartment was absolutely gross and unprepared (considering the amount of times they chased us for anything they needed, this was absolutely appalling). We had to pay for this mess to be cleaned up and they put us in an aparthotel nearby. Cliff Walker, the person who met us to show the flat, said that he will mention the possibility of a refund for one day, considering how they failed to prepare the flat for our arrival. When I emailed the agency a few days later, the response from a junior lady working there was - of course no one is giving you a refund, we offered you a hotel for one night (that basically we paid for), nothing else will be done. Nice. We had so much food that went bad that day because of all this mess. And why even bring this up then, if it's a blatant lie? Absolutely ridiculous.
The window was broken during the whole duration of our stay. It was basically hanging on one of its' hinges in an open position, sometimes we wouldn't be able to close the window for hours and it was awful in the winter months. They sent someone down one day (without any 24 hour notice, as per the contract, the guy just came in at 8am by ringing the door???) had a look, but the problem with the window that it broke occasionally, not all the time, but sometimes if you smack it in there, it would get "fixed". But would fall out of that one hinge the next day... So the guy came in when it was fine and just said - "it's all ok...".When it wasn't and the problem persisted for the whole duration of 1,5 years we stayed there. The very first handyman who came in said most of the windows are bad in the building because of its' shape so there's that.
Apart from this, I'm clinically extremely vulnerable and the handyman would ALWAYS come in without any mask or PPE in the first months of the pandemic, even though I would email on numerous occasions about this and asked to please ensure they wear it. He never did. Very irresponsible. He was also never on time. Sometimes I would have to sit home all day, because they'd say he'd come before 12 when in actuality he would come at 17:00 and I'm not even exaggerating, that was always the case.
We would've moved out so much sooner, we hated the flat with the cheap appliances and everything constantly breaking, but couldn't because of COVID. Also, right at the time of COVID starting, the landlord increased rent...
Now when we moved out, left the flat cleaned to a professional level and they are (of course they are) disputing us and want £144 for the "omissions". Their report falsely states that when we moved in, the flat was "cleaned to a professional level" which it wasn't, so they straight up lied in the report at the time of writing it. I don't think that's legal but that's how they roll. We emailed out agent numerous times regarding this and asked to acknowledge, they're just ignoring. I've never seen anything like this.
This whole experience feels very scam-like, really unimpressed with the service, glad to not be dealing with any of this lot. To be fair, the junior staff, a few girls, were quite polite and helpful. But with the speed they all quit and changed around there, we didn't really get the chance to get used to any of our "managers" or "helpers" or whatever they're called. Very glad to not be dealing with this awful agency. Do not recommend Life Residential under any circumstance, also stay away from. the building. Our parcels would constantly get stolen, the mailboxes would get broken into and more. They're not recycling at all and overall it's a mess.
