I lived with Northwood for a little over a year and had a truly brilliant experience. I’ve lived in many different properties with a variety of letting agents and landlords and Sarah and the rest of the team at Northwood are head and shoulders above every other organisation and landlord I’ve dealt with. From the moment I contacted them for a viewing, they were courteous, knowledgeable and responsive. I’ve been left hanging for days and even weeks with other landlords so it was refreshing to deal with an organisation who were transparent throughout. When I moved in the process was seamless, the flat was spotless and I was provided with all the information I needed for my tenancy, from phone numbers to council tax information, it made a stressful transition much easier. Throughout the tenancy, Sarah was very helpful and often went above and beyond to assist me with any issues. There were a number of things that stood out during my tenancy that have left me wanting to write a review (which I’ve never really done before). Firstly, Sarah and my landlord’s approach to me being furloughed. For three months in 2020 I was placed on furlough, meaning I took a 20% pay cut and was potentially looking at redundancy. While this wasn’t the end of the world, it was a difficult period. I communicated my situation at work with Sarah as I thought it was best to keep her in the loop. Within hours, she’d called the landlord and they’d both agreed to lower my rent by 20% for the duration of my furlough to help me. This is unheard of from a landlord/letting agent, at least in my experience. I was genuinely blown away and could not be more grateful. In a rubbish year of ups and downs, this act of kindness really cheered me up! Secondly, when the flat inspection was conducted at the end of my tenancy, there was some minor damage on the kitchen wall that I’d caused when moving stuff out. Due to my experience in previous tenancies, I assumed I would be charged heavily for this. However, Sarah explained that her and the landlord agreed that it was just wear and tear so I had my full deposit returned to me. They could have easily tried to charge me and made an issue out of the damage, like I know some organisations would, but in this case Northwood were understanding and relaxed. Finally, I had to return my wifi hardware to the provider upon leaving the flat but hadn’t been able to book a slot for them to collect it while I was still living in the property. Sarah went above and beyond by collecting the hardware after I’d left and posting it on my behalf to save me getting charged. I have been absolutely blown away by the professionalism, compassion and general attitude of Sarah, her colleagues and of course my landlord. I cannot recommend this company enough and although 2020 was a rubbish year for me, I was cheered up consistently and felt genuinely supported by Northwood. Thank you for a wonderful experience and if and when I am renting again, you will be my first port of call.
