When I initially wanted to view the property, I could not get though. No one answered the phone or responded to my messages. Eventually I sent an email and someone got in touch. My persistence paid off, but it should not be so hard to get a viewing.
The viewing went well and the agent that showed me round was punctual and pleasant. I put in an offer and the process was quick and easy, using online facilities to speed things up. I received emails about the progress.
But then I went to collect the keys. I phoned up in advance to check opening times / availability. There was no answer to several attempts to ring. I left a message to say I would be down within an hour and to let me know if there were any problems. No-one called to say there was a problem. I arrived at the office to find it locked up and in darkness. Eventually someone came to the door to tell me the keys were out because someone was doing a meter reading and could I come back later? I had a walk round town for 20 mins and got a call to say I could collect them. I went down and the agent was on the phone, but handed me the keys, while continuing his call. I asked for the key code, which I needed and he said he would send it later. At this point they had nearly 2 hours notice that I would be arriving and they still weren't ready, never mind they knew I was completing that day. I said that I wanted the code before leaving. I had already had enough issues getting through on the phone and didn't want to be stuck unable to get in. What happened next shocked me immensely. The agent began shouting aggressively, all the while with the phone still stuck to his face. Either that was another client hearing him shout at me, or it was a personal call. Either way, it was totally unprofessional. He continued shouting, saying he would send it in a minute, pointing to another phone, yet shouting that he couldn't do it now because he was on the phone. He then said that I couldn't wait and said that "people shouldn't be in the office unnecessarily because of covid". Bear in mind he was shouting and not wearing a mask, which is more of a risk. I was wearing a mask and standing 2m away. I said I would wait outside. Sure enough, the message arrived about 30 seconds later! It should have been ready when I came to collect the keys, or at the very least he could have given me the code in less time than he spent shouting aggressively at me and telling me to get out. There were no pleasantries, no thanks, no enjoy your new property...just unwarranted aggression and disorganisation.
