AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
We have had the unfortunate experience of renting a property from Chesterton’s in Fulham for 3 years. The rental price was £9,000 per month and the entire service from start to finish has been nothing short of shambolic especially considering the premium nature of this property.
The entire experience was a disaster from start to finish.
Start of term:
The property was left in a filthy and disgusting condition. The oven had leftover burnt food still in it and was caked in grease, there was a drawer of children’s clothing left in the bedroom, stains all over the walls etc…
During renting term:
Every time we reported a fault, they would send the cheapest tradesman, unsurprisingly they often were unable to fix the problem, example a plumber turned up without any tools to fix a leaky toilet…
Ending of contract:
As part of the check in and check out process we had to pay for an independent surveyor to complete an inventory report. However Chesterton’s tried to ignore the report and attempted to charge for damages which were already present and detailed on the independent report. I sent them a long detailed email explaining each page of the report as supporting evidence against their claim. They did not even bother to read this email and continued arguing without reading the check out report for another 2 weeks.
Finally 5 weeks after the contract ended the deposit amount was agreed. We then completed the Chesterton’s form with all bank details….. they have now sent the £16,000 deposit to a completely different bank account to the one we provided and refuse to investigate where the missing money is. Colette O'Sullivan then gets extremely aggressive and rude when on the phone saying that there is nothing she can do and she will now “hang up the phone” …. Extremely professional!!
Throughout the entire experience there has never been an apology, I suspect this is a defence tactic in order to avoid legal claims!!
The employees involved in this experience which you should avoid at all costs are: Gary Noone, Aisha Ahmed and Colette O'Sullivan. Although having dealt with Chesterton’s for 3 years I am yet to come across a single competent employee.
Expect the worst service of your life! Honestly I am shocked by their arrogant, aggressive, rude and completely incompetent staff. They all read from a pre- set script and you can expect to hear phrases such as:
“ let me tell you how this works”, - In relation to them trying to teach me about the inner workings of the legal system, despite the fact that they have barely a GCSE between them.
“we are going around in circles” – when you have a strong case for action to be taken and they refuse to accept any responsibility or provide any solution.
“ I am trying to help you” – used with an attitude in an aggressive manner as if they are doing me some great favour by finally answering my 15th phone call without any response.
“ you have emailed me 3 times” said again in an aggressive manner, yes because unfortunately you do not reply to my emails!
Phrases you will never hear:
“ I am sorry “
Save yourself a lot of money, time and effort and avoid Chesterton’s at all cost!!
