I used Gallant Richardson to sell my house recently. I chose them as they are a solid local Colchester company, and they demonstrated this with good local knowledge during the sale process. They were efficient, clearly explain the process and very good at keeping in touch proactively. The sales details were well written and good photographs taken. The process was quite hard as there were a couple of offers that fell through, but the team went straight back onto it after each one, and then found a cash buyer and the sale went though in about 4 weeks.
Have not had good experiences of estate agents in the past, however the team here are professional, approachable, sound, and good at what they do as well as being genuinely nice people!
I would have no hesitation in recommending them if you are looking to buy or rent in Colchester
