We first came to know Yopa when Richard Beard was showing us around a house. We were impressed by his knowledge, professionalism and manner. He stayed in touch and when the time came to put ours on the market it was Yopa (Richard) we chose.
Richard took amazing photographs and we felt that he really took on board the features of our house to put in the advert and pass on to prospective buyers. Our house sold quickly and Richard liaised between us and the buyers making us feel supported and keeping things stress free.
Sadly, Richard left Yopa. We were informed via email but I had several panicked messages from our buyer who hadn't been informed and didn't know what was going on when he couldn't make contact. He was very concerned that something had fallen though with the house sale and I had to explain and reassure him!
Stuart Randalls, the replacement agent was the absolute opposite of all the great qualities Richard had. We had several generic emails from Yopa but no personalised contact and when our buyers requested another viewing Stuart told me 'it would be easier' if I did it despite me paying for the package where the agents did it and despite my solicitor telling me not to get involved as I was paying for professionals to take on those kind of jobs.
As someone who has never sold a house before I could have really done with Stuart's assistance but he just wasn't interested.
The developer we were buying from made contact with Stuart on an occasion when there was a query regarding our buyers position - again, Stuart was less than helpful and they noticed that which was embarrassing at worst and disappointing at best. Stuart didn't even know who we were having never made the effort to meet us or make himself aware of our or our buyers position.
In the final week before completion I received an email from Yopa telling me it was time to arrange key handover on moving day. I organised this only to be phoned 3 days before moving from a director asking if he was needed to handover the keys?!!! Again, as someone whose never sold a house before I did what the email said only to receive contradictory information days later. It would have been far more helpful to have information with clarity on what could/would happen on the day.
Overall I would not recommend Yopa. I paid £2,149 and all I received was some great photos and a positive viewing experience with Richard. After that it was like Yopa forgot about us. I did mention this once but was told it's not the agents responsibility to stay in touch when solicitors are involved. Interestingly, despite leaving the company and having no obligation to do so, Richard did stay in touch and touched base every now & again to ask how things were going. That courtesy call made us feel valued and supported and was the service we thought we were paying for. It says a lot for Richard (who I would 100% use again) and Yopa who I'd never recommend!!!!!
