Great service for landlords let down by inexplicable arrogance.
OpenRent insists on placing YOUR deposit in a deposit scheme that THEY choose. Not clear if they get a kick back for this, but as a landlord I am left to get my money back from a 3rd party they have signed me up with, so that I can have my deposit placed in the scheme of my choosing and where all other deposits I hold reside. They do suggest you can simplify things by moving all of your deposits to the deposit scheme they have elected(!). The final irony is, the deposit scheme I use is the one they previously favoured, so who knows who they will pick next year, but presumably there will be an expectation all landlords will shuffle their affairs to suit their latest operational constraints.
In short, service providers do not get to choose what bank you use, deposit scheme you use, what phone company you use. Its simply none of their business and whether due to technical constraints or commercial kick backs they need to stop this behaviour. If OR cannot provide automated deposit transfer to the 3 main schemes - give the landlord the deposit to do it themselves. Signing them up by proxy is anti-competitive, time consuming and arrogant. STOP IT.
