From October 2019 to April of 2020, I rented a 1 BR room with R&W lettings in a shared home in Leeds. The company initially seemed professional, however over the course of my tenancy they provided terrible service, with minimal interaction, no responsibility for the properties maintenance, and no consideration of services outlined in my lease which were never provided. Here's a list of my experiences:
On visiting the property, I was rushed through with no answers to multiple questions regarding internet service, cleaning regularity, or recent rennovations.
R&W demanded a deposit and holding fee before providing me with any form of a contract or having a signed contract in place
The online house posting and written lease included internet and cleaning services for the entirety of the 6 month lease. No cleaners ever arrived during my lease. Internet was not setup at the shared house for six full weeks after moving in.
For 3 weeks I was constantly told internet was about to be setup. For 3 more weeks R&W then did not respond to my emails. When they finally replied, R&W said that they had already "done our part". Internet wasn't sorted until the landlord felt like it- 6 weeks into tenancy.
R&W will not reimburse me for 6 weeks without internet OR 6 months without cleaning service which were promised at the time of moving in as part of my lease
After moving out, it then took R&W 4 full weeks to return my deposit
As a renter, R&W are miserable to deal with and gave me miserable service... good riddance. Avoid renting with this company.
