My partner and I offered on a property with Kallars at the beginning of December 2019, when we had a buyer for our own flat with Purple Bricks and everything was set in place to proceed.
Throughout this initial process, Kallars were responsive and coherent at every stage. In fact, more responsive than the agent from PB who was managing the sale of our flat. This came back to bite us at the end of February 2020 when our buyer pulled out – over reasons that could have been addressed much earlier in the process – but we believe that due to that lack of contact between our agent and our buyer, it was missed.
At this point it was all hands on deck to secure the property we had an offer accepted on and to find and accept a fresh offer on the one we were selling. This involved a tight turn around to get our flat rephotographed and listed and viewed asap to avoid our dream property, going back on the rental market.
We managed to secure a new buyer with Kallars in less than 2 weeks after our first buyer pulled out. We were also able to rent the property we wanted on a short term contract with a clause in order to keep the seller happy. We were able to secure this contract and the keys during this fortnight period also.
Fortunately by mid-March 2020 we had moved quickly enough to get the new arrangement in place and had all of the surveys completed for our new buyer, so when Covid lockdown came into place, our solicitors were able to go forward with the paper from home. All of us, keeping in contact very regularly.
At every stage throughout, Chris was consistently measured and responsive in giving his honest feedback about what to expect. This, I think, has been critical to us and our confidence after we had such an initial shock with our first buyer pulling out when we were anticipating an imminent exchange.
So all in all, we have experienced buying, selling AND renting with Kallars, which probably qualifies us as expert reviewers! The rental team were so efficient that we can barely even remember what happened – and good design is always invisible, so thank you to Nelsson and the team for making it so easy and seamless.
Thank you mostly to Chris Whitfield, who oversaw our purchase and our sale, and was our main point of contact throughout. Chris's realism was key in managing our expectations – of prices and of timings. While the purchase of properties are inherently financial and everyone hopes to be making an investment, they are also deeply personal. Chris seems to understand the range of emotions that come with trying to buy and sell in a market as competitive as London's, and calmly navigated the extra volatility that the pandemic caused.
We would absolutely recommend using Kallars and we are grateful to them for getting our purchase and sale over the line, when we came up against two big hurdles. So, thank you.
