Long detailed review but I would hate for anyone to go through what I currently am with doorsteps and to experience the horrific service I am receiving from them. I have refrained from writing any reviews however they simply do not care. I have been overly patient and kind however this seems to not work or make any difference to them.
I am a first time buyer and the property I was purchasing was up with doorsteps so once I had my offer accepted I was bombarded with calls and emails regarding their conveyancing service. I spoke with Hussain who was very keen to sell this service to me and with much convincing I decided to go ahead and use doorsteps conveyancing services. This was sold to me as an in house service which will aid in my purchase going ahead quicker and more smoothly - I soon found out it wasn't an in house service and actually a company called PCS Legal that would be handling my case. I also had to pay an upfront cost of £1080 for this which I wasn't keen on doing at first however hussain was extremely reassuring that this was the best option for me and advised if anything went wrong with the purchase I would receive my money back this is when hussain also asked if I wanted to purchase the buyers protection insurance which was an extra £100 however this means that I would be completely covered for all my money back if the sale didn't go through so to cover myself I took out this insurance totalling £1180 paid to doorsteps.
The property I was purchasing had later been devalued by a significant amount and the vendor wasn't willing to drop the price of the property therefor the purchase fell through - no fault of my own it is clear the property had been overvalued by doorsteps as I also paid for another valuation to be carried out which also came back as lower than the price the property was up for. This is when things with doorsteps took a turn for the worst. I emailed hussain and the account manager Meera to advise that the property had been down valued and I would like to get a refund for the conveyancing that I would no longer be benefiting from as I wouldn't be purchasing the property. Hussain swiftly emailed me back to advise it would be best for me to claim the money back through the insurance instead of doorsteps as this would allow me to receive all my money back and to also still have conveyancing with doorsteps for no cost if I decided to purchase again. Hussain also advised he would find out the exact steps to take for me to get my money back which surprised me as he sold me this product I thought they would know how to get me a refund. I was then sent over a document I had never received with an email saying 'have you seen this document with all the information' - I had never been sent this document which was a insurance policy document for a company called Northcott Beaton which was a huge in depth document with unclear instructions on how to put in a claim however the information needed to even put in a claim was never provided to me from doorsteps either so I emailed back to say I have none of the information I need to put in a claim and why was I never sent this when I took out the insurance in the first place! Hussain then tagged founder Akshay into the email to ask if he can see my concerns and advise accordingly. He tagged somebody called Andy in the email and said he can help which again I was very shocked at he didn't seem bothered in the slightest at my concerns and didn't even acknowledge them. I emailed Andy who I believe was part of the insurance group but never got a response to which I later found out he didn't work for the company anymore!!! Another person called Keiron emailed me to say he was going to look into this for me to which I was very grateful for. Shockingly I then got an email back from Keiron to say that the insurance didn't cover me for anything!!! This was on 20th March and I began to chase doorsteps. I then called doorsteps and spoke with Akshay on 20th March who advised me I will get my money back and he will speak to the insurance team and again was very reassuring. I then had to email on 25th March to chase the status of this to which Akshay replied that he will chase the insurance team again. I then emailed on April 2nd for an update with no response. I then called doorsteps twice on April 3rd to speak with Akshay however no luck I got 2 of his employees who said all they can do is email him to get back to me which he never. Baring in my mind I left 3.5 hours between each call to doorsteps. I then got an email on the 3rd April off Hussain who said he will speak with Akshay to get in contact with me and that he completely understood my frustrations. I was then replied to on April 5th by Akshay stating that he believes doorsteps have also been misold the cover from the insurance team and that I will never receive a full refund as it is based on pro rata depending on work that has already been done baring in mind no work was done I was only ever sent the initial paperwork from PCS Legal which I also have proof of from their online portal. I then responded to this email expressing how I have been sold something wrongly and that staff have given me wrong information all which is documented and that I wish a call to me take place to process my refund ASAP and still have had no response and my emails and calls are never responded too. I have refrained from writing this review and have given doorsteps benefit of the doubt and been extremely patient especially given the current covid-19 pandemic however it simply isn't good enough. They do not care about their customers and only interested In taking your money and not giving it back when legally they have to especially as I have been missold a product by them!!
I now feel left with no other choice than to voice my opinions and pray nobody ends up in the situation I am in. This has caused me severe anxiety and upset not that doorsteps care about the wellbeing of their customers or the stress they induce on them. As doorsteps and Akshay continue to ignore me and not give me my money back I now will need to seek professional advice and have to go down a legal route to obtain my well entitled money back.
BOTTOM LINE - DO NOT USE - especially for conveyancing!!! They care not one bit about their customers. Your concerns will never be acknowledged and they will never do right by there customers. It is simply inhumane the way I am being treated. My money is being withheld from me and I am constantly brushed off and given wrong information by all their staff! Do not make the same mistake I did by being so trusting!!!

Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed). For properties to lease/rent in England, agents need to keep this information up to date and precise on allAgents or specify within the property description.
