I came from Glasgow, they didn't show up.
I had booked a viewing a week in advance for the Thursday after. They confirmed by text asking to phone in on Thursday morning to confirm whether I would attend. I phoned them and was given the exact address. Viewing was at 2pm. I showed up 10 minutes early, by 2 no agent was there so I phoned Factotum. A young lady apologised saying there had been a miscommunication on their part and the tenant had not been notified so I could not view the flat. I explained I had come from Glasgow specifically for that viewing and asked them to notify the tenant and try to reschedule for later in the day. I was told that would not be possible as they must give the tenant 48 hours notice before a viewing (not necessarily true, most leases specify tenants might be requested to let agents in for viewings on short notice when necessary). I asked how such a complete mishap could have happened since I had confirmed the viewing over the phone that very morning as per requested. The young lady apologised again but that was that. I then left her my phone number and email address, let her know I would again be in Edinburgh the following Monday for a different viewing and asked to reschedule for that date and let me know as soon as possible. This was on Thursday, 2:30pm. I didn't hear back until receiving an email on Friday at 4pm where Mz * informed me the property was no longer available and offered me a viewing for another property in Stockbridge. I emailed back asking to view this new property on Monday but by the time I did, the agency was already closed for the weekend - * had emailed me (instead of phoning directly) one hour before closing time, when I was at work. I then contacted them again Monday morning asking to schedule something for that day, as per my availability, since I would not be able to keep going back and forth from Glasgow for viewings. I was again told it was impossible as the tenant had to be notified 48 hours in advance, received apologies for the inconvenience they had caused and for not being able to accommodate me. To Factotum I wish to say: mistakes happen, it is only human, but what should have happened after failing to show up to an agreed viewing with someone coming in from another city is calling me the same day to reschedule for the Monday I would next be in, instead of leaving it as the last thing on the Friday before shutting for the weekend. The mistake was bad, the follow-up was worse.
