Having a nightmare with Foxtons Estate Agents:
- They don't call back when they say they will.
- I said I would take a flat, they said ¢â‚¬Å“someone else has just put a better offer in, would I like to increase my offer in terms of rent and/or contract length¢â‚¬Â I said no, somehow I still got the flat (surprise surprise).
- They tried to rip me off by a week's rent (£225) by starting the contact one week early (before I'd even spoke to them never mind getting the keys or signing).
- A mid-term break clause is only apparently on a 12 month contact, not a 24 month contract which I stupidly signed in a rush.
I took the flat without viewing it, Amy the contact negotiator said ¢â‚¬Å“it's immaculate, just been professionally cleaned and ready for you, only a couple of black marks on the walls¢â‚¬Â, I said ¢â‚¬Å“that's fine¢â‚¬Â, then picked up the keys up all excited, this is what I found¢â‚¬Â¦
A total grease bomb!!! Looks like some Chinese cooking, chain smoking tenants had the flat before me. The pictures advertised on Foxtons website must have been from quite some time ago.
It's really not ¢â‚¬Å“markings on the wall¢â‚¬Â ¢â‚¬â€œ it's pure filth stuck to grease, bottom to top, left to right, every wall.
What is white in the pictures is now yellow from cigarette smoke.
You can hear your shoes peeling off the greasy/sticky floor as you walk. You can't stand still for too long or you'll stick forever!
It smelt so bad; the so called professional cleaners had not even put an air-freshener in any room nor left a single window open. My first viewing I got the full whack.
Lots of old dry bird's shit on the balcony floor.
I've asked for a receipt on numerous occasions to both Amy Straw and Liam Creech but I don't think there reading the emails properly because I never get a response and I can't claim on work expenses until I do, I was looking for a head office complaints department so I can get a receipt but I can't find one (that's how I found this site).
I consider myself decent, clean and tidy - my old place is all clean and tidy for some lucky new tennant(s) and I'm stuck with this flat, could throw 100 hours cleaning at it and it would still stink.
It's a joke, wish I hadn't of used Foxtons, totally spoilt what could have been an enjoyable process, instead I'm stuck dealing with these morons that want to take as much money for as little effort as possible.
