Awful communications. Whilst we were still renters we frequently received emails which started 'we tried to call...' no missed calls. This is now carrying on after out tenancy has ended with respect to the deposit - apparently we're being charged for a 7 year old missing telephone directory, an already replaced fire alarm (one when we moved in - three when we left in addition to the CO detectors we also fitted!), damp in the conservatory caused by the age of the structure in addition to the poor maintenance of the heating (engineers reports back this up). To put it into perspective, we were so fed up with the landlord / Howsy combo we moved down the road to a smaller house for more money as we had confidence that should the boiler fail it would actually be repaired!

I know that they are paid by the landlords but honestly, if you tell me you're going to phone then do - or at least pop me an email for a different time! Been approaching a month now and we have not had any detail about any deductions from the deposit.

Yes, eventually. It took nearly 3 months. I found they communicated better when I wrote a bad review on Trustpilot! There was a reply almost straight away on that.

Update. We were told two weeks ago that the deposit would be repaid. Friday by the end of the day. Today called again and now they are blatantly lying to us! Said they didn't have a bank account number (they do) then took my wife's bank account number and claimed they were putting it in as they spoke - they didn't. Utter shambles

Hi Simon, We are currently in the process of trying to get a property through howsy, (I am a tenant) and they are proving awful. The referencing service etc has been a sham, tenancy was meant to start today and the house is not ready apparently. I do have the landlords name, do you think it is worth us reaching out to him directly? to try and divert around this? Oh you're very misinformed. Being a tenant in hell with howsy, I can't even behind to tell you how difficult it's been to even get something fixed or a contractor out. I even entered the property and didn't have a functioning toilet! No one knows what their are doing there. They are sound like the same robots! Kindly note that legally, letting agents need to publish information about their tenancy fees, government-approved redress schemes and client money protection schemes on their website and on third party websites (on which agents are listed).
