Simply put; I would never, ever use Bowson again!
Upon moving into the property, which had been delayed several hours to the end of the day by Bowson, we were disgusted with the state of cleanliness and disrepair. Cobwebs from light fixtures and in the corners of rooms, dead bugs in the kitchen and bathroom, rotting worktops, the list could go on. We didn't even move into the property on the day due to this. The cleaners were sent round the following day, however didn't do much more than when they first cleaned the property.
Our first month in the property felt like living on a building site. We had people coming and going most days to fix the property due to the state of disrepair. New bedroom carpet, new bed and mattress, new kitchen worktop, new kitchen flooring, new light-shades, new sofa, repair to boiler timer, just a list of things that were needed to make the property remotely habitable. The new bed and sofa were simply dumped in the rooms, still in packaging, without the old ones being removed. It was another week or two before we got removal of old items arranged with Bowson.
During our tenancy we had a persistent damp and mould problem in the bedroom. Heating was on regularly with the windows open on the latch permanently, but the problem persisted. The damp problem within the in-built wardrobe caused damage to personal property (shoes, clothes, bags/suitcases, electrical items, etc) however Bowson were not bothered and offered no resolution to the damaged caused. They attempted to alleviate the issues with some cheap fixes however the damp and mould persisted until the end of our tenancy.
During the time Bowson were conducting viewings at the property, I was asked on one occasion to conduct the viewing myself. I can only assume the agent at the property got bored of waiting for their new potential tenant and simply wanted to go home as it was a 5pm viewing.
Once you've paid your deposit, you might as well say goodbye to it and forget about it. They will find a reason to deduct every last penny from you. I have rented from a range of agencies in Newcastle over the last six years and always received about 90% of my deposit back, but not this time.
