I contacted Hamlet wanting to secure a property that they have for let. I said I was willing to put the deposit down straight away as I know the property is perfect for what I'm looking for but I was told I'd have to view the property prior to being able to secure it, myself and my partner are unable to get time of work to view the property, and the agent told us they were fully booked of viewings which in my mind flagged up this property will be gone before I can view! I understand it may be a procedure they have to under take to be secure on the people wanting the property, however I then said my friend/family member would come to have a look on my behalf which was absolutely fine by me, I was told again I wouldn't be allowed to do this. I have now had an email the following day after asking to be notified of any cancelled viewings, that the property has had the security deposit put down the day after I wanted to and is therefore off the market! I think this is extremely unfair and as there are no laws to say viewings are essential before putting down a deposit, I was severely disappointed with the service I received from an estate agent that I had used before and thought was a lot better with their customer service! Being a young couple, myself and my partner often experience discrimination for our age group and sexual orientation, of course I would hope that neither of these reasons would be why Hamlet acted so hostile towards us...
