PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Myself and four others moved into one of their properties at the start of the 2018 academic year, upon arrival we did an inventory of the house listing all things that were damaged/not working etc. as we were not provided with one. In my email I explained that some were not issues e.g. peeling wallpaper, small holes in the walls etc., things you can live with but if you care about your house you would ideally like fixed. I also explained that there were issues that required their immediate attention- locks that needed replacing, broken bedframes etc.
This email was completely ignored along with any subsequent email. I WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASISE THIS LINE AS IT WILL BE A RECURRING THEME THROUGHOUT A TENANCY WITH THESE PEOPLE.
It is however not all doom and gloom a tenancy with Cintra (and by extension Ridgemoor as they are the same entity) does have its benefits during my tenancy I had plenty of opportunities to put my practical skills to good use.
I fixed both bathroom locks (having to purchase new locks with my own money) as they would simply ignore us or send an incompetent ‘handy man’ who I’m afraid to say is not very handy to have around.
We had a dysfunctional drain in our kitchen sink which they ignored but as a result I got a great opportunity to learn about plumbing and managed to fix it.
Upon moving in half the lights around the house were not a straightforward job such as fixing the bathroom light required me to turn off the electrics so that I could check the wiring to see where the issue was before finding out it was a damaged holster which we found a solution to.
Some issues more minor then others but you would expect the landlord to have the house in a functional state before renting.
SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO WASTE YOUR TIME REPAIRING SOMEBODY ELSE’S HOUSE WHICH THEY SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED MONTHS AGO CINTRA ARE THE LETTING COMPANY FOR YOU!
So come July we move out. ‘Excellent’ we think we will simply get our deposit back and that will be the end of it….
If only life were that simple we had to wait 3 months until our deposit was finally returned, they made no effort on their part to return the deposit. we had to call them constantly and send numerous emails. EVERYTHING WAS IGNORED.
Cintra will blame Ridgemoor and Ridgemoor will never simply never answer. If by some miracle you manage to get through to somebody from Ridgemoor it will always be Asif Khan, whom will consistently lie to avoid paying back your deposit until threatened with legal action.
As everything to do with Ridgemoor is conducted through Cintra- unless convenient for it to be a Ridgemoor issue i.e deposit return which neither company should possess in their private accounts; I would not be surprised if Ridgemoor only exists for the purpose of tax avoidance or money laundering as I fail to see what other useful purpose Ridgemoor could possibly be for.
As well as that they clearly have no moral compass as they tried to silence myself and another housemate by returning only our deposit. Not only is this completely immoral but also abundantly clear that the deposit has not been placed under a deposit protection scheme as required by law. If it were they would not be able to return only part of it.
I could honestly write a dissertation on their complete lack of morals and utter incompetence but they have wasted enough of my time.
I hope that this review will sway anybody looking to rent in the area to please use somebody else so that you can receive a fair service and property for your money and you are not forced to endure what myself and countless other students have been at the hands of these immoral companies.
Please see below news articles about the company and their practises.
