Thorgills have denied me adequate compensation for unauthorised removals of my belongings from my rental flat. Thorgills Brentford offfice were my rental and managing agent. They rented my flat as semi-furnished, It was not. It was fully equipped with kitchenware, bedding, towels, everything that I would have wanted had I been moving in. As my tenants were not made aware of this they brought all their own things. They asked Thorgills to remove my goods to put them into storage. The tenants sent a list of the goods removed to Thorgills as a record at the time. Thorgills moved my goods out, they did not seek my approval, nor inform me of their removal. I found out by chance when visiting my tenants some five months later. I contacted Thorgills immediately - they could find no trace of my belongings. Thorgills admitted their mistake, they emailed me saying "we will do everything in our power to put this right". Then they said they had to wait until the tenants moved out. The tenants have now moved out. My goods are still missing. I am seeking compensation to replace the goods like for like. Thorgills have said there was no evidence the goods were there in the first place and given the time since the goods were removed they have offered me an amount significantly less than the cost of replacement. I believe that they have strung me along and behaved in an amoral way. I believed them when they said they would "do everything in our power to put this right". They have not done so. They advertise themselves as "built on traditional values", that I would think includes honesty and integrity. They have not shown either of those qualities in their dealings with me. I have sent a formal letter of complaint which has not been adequately answered. I have tried to be air and to avoid legal recourse but it seems I shall have to pursue this matter further.
