I used the services of the leasing department of J&G Collie as a tenant in two different properties within an approximately 2-year period. Part of my deposit was deducted twice primarily for cleaning reasons. Fortunately, I managed to get back the entire disputed amount re the last property I stayed at.

The deduction was linked to a cleaning service fee owing primarily to the presence of dust in the radiators and kitchen areas and drips in the bathroom. J&G Collie decided to ask professional cleaners to deal with this without letting me know beforehand.

Minor omissions in cleaning can happen to all of us, and I could have dealt with them (if I was asked) within half an hour or so soon after I moved out instead of being charged £96 for a cleaning service. J&G Collie were unwilling to negotiate this fee but they rather prompted me to refer to a third party for disputing the decision.

Very disappointed overall as J&G Collie have definitely being high-handed and I would thus not recommend using their services.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Kept me informed regarding the status of my requests for repairs, etc - at ANY point. Returned my phonecalls or replied to my emails. Treated me with a modicum of respect. Not shown empathy with me because they've "been trying for ages to get in touch with the owner" - but rather take some action or, at the very least, accept some degree of responsibility. Do some kind of maintenance on the property rather than allow it to become officially-listed as"dangerous". Apologise - just once.
