Places for People have offloaded some of their Edinburgh properties
They have lost the point to the original premise .... the people!
No customer focus.
Hide behind emails and process keep the deposit and inflate claims.
This company decided to exploit its position and charge near £500 to carry out a Deep clean on an unfurnished one bedroom property.
Upon entry, the property was a little run down, needed to be decorated (really), and a little dusting. The carpets were thin and well used. I thought no big issue - I'll cover up with rugs and once my furniture was in and swapped the lighting it wouldn't look that bad.
The property was vacated and left tidy pretty close to that of the move in state, there may have been a little dusting required and the odd spot missed. The property was vacated for 2 weeks during which continual requests were made via email to get a closeout
Emails ignored.
Although the Letting protection service holds the deposit, evidence needs to be provided at expense to prove the property was left in the original condition, with obvious fair wear and tear on a 30-month residency.
Companies like Touchstone / Places for People can simply make a claim to keep the deposit and the tenant is required to provide evidence by post at their expense.
I will be making all legal challenges, but it is unfortunate that some other tenants may not be as willing to go through the lengthy process.

Dont expect any repairs to get done, emails to get replied too.
Lots of tenants do what they wish, and nothing gets done about it. Smoking in flats, do as you please.
