When we came into the property, the house was filthy and flee infested, even though we'd been promised it was clean. When confronting them, they said it was our fault as our (indoor) cat must have brought the flees with her. The house was also full of mould and in general disrepair but we figured that's why we were paying the lower rent. Any maintenance was done reluctantly and with minimum effort, basically just patching stuff up.
But being good people, we never complained, paid rent on time, made the place into a home and cleaned it up so it looked better than when we moved in.
Before moving out, we cleaned up the place and even replaced the wallpaper where the cat had scratched it.
At the end of our tenancy, they had the audacity to demand 110 £ from us for cleaning costs, even though I know perfectly well they had no intention of cleaning it up or even redecorating, which it desperately needs as the windows and doors are old and the paintwork and mould issue needed addressing.
All they care about is the landlords and their money, not about customers. Avoid at all costs.
