As executors of my late uncle's estate, we had a bungalow in Thurnscoe to sell and my parents met Marie from WH Brown as well as 2 other estate agents on the same day. Before my parents had even made it back home to Lincolnshire, I had a phone call as well as a lengthy email from Marie and it was very much a high pressure, hard sell approach on her behalf. Marie claimed to have at least 3 people interested who had recently missed out on similar properties and valued the bungalow much higher than any other agent, claiming to be confident of getting even more. I still have the email to prove these claims. Personally, I felt uneasy but her demeanour face to face had totally won my parents over.
As it turned out, we had not one viewing as a result of WH Brown and it quickly became apparent that the property was vastly over priced and subsequently sold for much less than marketed at and to yet another potential buyer we had sourced ourselves through word of mouth. We then had difficulty with the beneficiaries of the will demanding to know why the property had been sold for less than valued by WH Brown.
I can see clearly how Marie won my parents over and she has a very forceful manner that is difficult to say no to.
My opinion of this experience is that they got our business making claims they could not substantiate and this must have been the easiest money they have ever earned. Proceed with extreme caution and do not allow yourself to be pressured into anything

I totally agree with the above comments. We viewed a bungalow in April. Put an offer in, was told this was a higher than another offer that had been received and they would get back to me. Waited 4 days no contact. So telephoned again. To be told that it had gone to the other party as we hadn't been in with our details. Not once in any conversation were we asked to bring in any details. Infact got to impression that even when we went to view they didn't want us to put an offer in. No details gen ...
