We rented a property with Abode, and it has taken me a long time before deciding to fill this in, because we were both so upset with our treatment that we were to angry to do this justice.
I found the branch to be incredibly unhelpful and unsupportive. On many occasions they did not communicate between ourselves and the landlord, and they would take many days between emailing/phoning. For example, when it snowed we were left powerless, now this I am fully aware, is not their fault. But they were rude, and completely unhelpful in term of communicating what was being done - the landlord had said to them he was going to bring us a heater, they never bothered to even call us back to let us know this or when a person was going to come - just let us wait in for what turned out to be, when we spoke to the landlord, was for no reason.
They then moved students into the property above, that was also owned by our landlord, in what was meant to be a professional letting . These students had industrial speakers delivered in a transit van, left the door to our property open, had 60+ people come and go at all hours of the night, partying, most nights. Our flat literally shook, and when asked to come and listen/experience this the agency simply didn't bother.
Furthermore, the letting agency where unhelpful, and never passed any of this information to the landlord, whom was very distressed that he had been kept out of the loop, kept out of the loop for the many months that this had been going on. We got so desperate we had to call the non emergency police line - as at times you could not even be in our flat. This was so distressing, and I understand not directly their fault (though I question them agreeing to let to someone who clearly did not work) but through the whole experience not once did we recieve an apology or any form of help or guidance, there was simply 'nothing they could do'. I think they did go through some sort of warning with the students above, but this is after months and months of moaning, and having to stay away from our flat, they also again kept us out of the loop with that this was being done.
We decided we had to leave a flat we had been living in for nearly two years and even asked this letting agency to help us look at properties - to which when I asked would there be anything they could do to help with letting fees dues to our circumstances and being upable to live where we currently were - not in terms of having the swiped, but financially we could not afford to move again, this obviously was never an option or even discussed. The move was not planned and in the end we had to take a loan simply to get away from there, I have literally had days of work due to the stress/lack of being able to sleep and when I expressed this to the agency they were completely unresponsive.
Pete never answered his phone and was never in the office, I can only imagine how busy he is, and I understand this - but as our only point of contact this was a complete waste of time.
The landlord was friendly and supportive and in the end decided to communicate with us himself due to how rubbish the agents were being, but obviously we had to move from our home, which again may not be directly their fault but they made the whole experience completely unbareable.
