After Tim Mason advised me of his opinion of the value of my house and I agreed for them to market it, expecting big things,I was called into the office "to sign that the details were correct." Little did I know because nobody brought it to my attention, that I was actually signing a contract, necessitating a 4 week notice period. I found out a month later when I tried to take the property off with them because they hadn't even introduced one viewer, let alone a possible buyer. When I protested that I was completely unaware of the contract (they hadn't even given me a copy), they had the director Tim Mason call me. He stuck with the company line and insisted that he must have mentioned the 4 week notice period, though he couldn't say he remembered saying it (because he hadn't). Since I've been living abroad for 12 years, I wouldn't be current on what is a 'standard contract' and I should have been told and a copy should have been given to me. He agreed only to reduce the 4 weeks to 2 weeks which I accepted in order to not have a fight over commission if another agent introduced a willing buyer. I left that relationship feeling that I'd been duped and that Town & Country only have a nice veneer but that they care less about their sellers than the commission they hope to wring out of them.
