It was with great confidence and a reliable recommendation that we chose Bourne Estate Agents from three others in the area and we liked the fact that they are an independent concern. We were happy with the proposed asking price that would be reviewed on a weekly basis and got along well with Adrian Cannon, our assigned agent who has a good manner and kept us well informed. The presentation of our property was very good and we were given feedback after each viewing.

However, we were disappointed when advised to knock £25k off the price of our property after six weeks on the market. We refused and eventually sold for over 95% of the asking price after only 11 weeks. Having said that, Bourne went along with our wishes with good grace and continued to work hard on our behalf. It is well to note though that just now is not necessarily a quick turnover market and so bearing in mind that not all properties are the same, it is a good idea for the seller to keep an eye on the market and in normal circumstances not to be persuaded to drop too much too soon.

What agent could do to change your mind?
Try to understand your customers' perspective. Don't patronise your clients, and perhaps an apology for your errors would be a start.

Exactly the same experience here. They had the property we bought on the market for well over a year, but when we started the conveyancing process it was totally unready for sale - missing building regs, FENSA certificates - you name it. Wasted huge amounts of our solicitors time (and our money) chasing and chasing to get things done, with total incompetence from the Bourne team *. Ugh!! And even at the end, when they knew they'd fouled up, not a whimper of an apology - they clearly didn't care ...
