On relocating to Sheffield for my work, we moved into Abbeydale Hall at the end of September 2016, expecting to be out in 4 or 5 months. We stayed for over 18 months while we looked for the right house to buy. Our lease was rolled over each month and not once were we asked for a renewal fee.
We can't rate Abbeydale Hall highly enough. The flat was surprisingly spacious - as we found when we had to move a lot of our belongings in when we sold our house in the Midlands. The kitchen was really well designed with large work surfaces and lots of cupboard space.
The location is fantastic, being so close to town, next to the bus stop, and near the station and of course Ecclesall Woods. Dore and Totley are close by, too, and the local Tesco is great. The flat is set back from the road and was never noisy. Having so much free parking was a real boon - especially when we had 3 cars for a time. We never had any trouble parking.
The complimentary use of the fitness centre next door was great (or so my wife and son tell me!).
Perhaps the best thing about the Hall was the responsiveness of Emily and Robert whenever we had any issues at all with the flat, While we were there both the cooker and hob were replaced, and not once did they quibble about anything - all repairs were typically done within 24-48 hours, and we didn't even have to wait in. The bins and recycling areas are clean and emptied regularly.
We love our new house but we'll miss Abbeydale Hall. As the saying goes, if only all landlords were like this... Thank you, Emily and Robert!
Comment on agent fees
Reasonable. The inventory fees on moving in & out might have been lower I suppose.
