Originally, I thought that umega were great. We signed on with lots of assistance and help from Caitlin. But once the contract was signed and we were re-*assigned as our main liaison, our problems began. As a representative of the agency, I can confidently say that he* has tainted the reputation of umega lettings. Every point of contact was disappointing and dissatisfying. He was rude and unprofessional, with unanswered emails and calls, alongside this unexplained deductions in our final rental returns total. We have consistently been frustrated with the lack of contact and unwillingness to communicate with us. When we first moved in, we were told by him that our flat was cleaned to a professional standard. Upon arriving, we found other people's bedding in the flat on the bed with a mattress that stunk, a very dirty kitchen and a build up of mess in every crevice possible. The heating was on full, which not only increased the meter readings even before we had moved in, but would obviously also differ from those previously recorded in the inventory. We received no information on any of the utilities other than for us to 'find it out ourselves', when we were told otherwise. Additionally, nearing the ending of our lease, there is an option to attend the check out process, which the keys should be returned after the move out date. This did not happen. Instead, *He attempted to visit us at our workplace to receive our keys. Following this after we did hand them over, he then entered the property without giving notice whilst we were at work and furthermore went on to complete the check-out inventory process without letting us know. As stated in the contract, the agency is to let the tenants know when they are to be entering at least 24 hours in advance. Considering our tenancy hasn't officially ended and we are contractually the official tenants, I am very displeased to find that he has breached our contract. I understand that if we had been communicating with a different agent we may have had a different experience. But as a current tenant, from what has happened, I can confidently say that I would not recommend Umega lettings unless the future tenant was in communication with someone more willing to help out.
