We have rented our house via Dexters. From the very start things went wrong: they assured us that was a right rent to ask but one!! week after signing the the contract started pressing us into reducing the rent. At the end the rent we got was 30% less from their original promise.
The contractors they used to tile the bathroom by tenants' demand were total rubbish: quality of work and choice of tiles. I was shocked to see the job after returning to UK. It cost us £1200 in total and Dexters were offering £50 as a'goodwill gesture'.
The inspections of our house (which is our home, not a buy to let property) were carried out by a third party who obviously did not see check in reports. Tenants made a number of alterations including drilling holes into walls and tiles, mutilating our garden and chopping half of the beautiful mature tree, removing items and not replacing them - all these went unnoticed and unreported. When I came to the house myself to say I was shocked would be a huge understatement, I cried. The house was filthy, stinky, with unauthorised tent in the garden (illegal business). I told an agent, Sheikh Mohsin, about it, how appalled I was. His reaction: shrugged shoulders and said 'it is done, nothing we can do about it now, let's see after check out report'. That is a reply we got for £2500 of management fees.
Tenants wrecked our house, we had to dry the walls from knee high mould rising because of unreported leak, we had to repaint all shitty paint jobs tenants did to pass check out inspection. Agents reaction:could be worse.
Dexters are the most dishonest, lazy, uncaring agents I came across, they are indifferent to anything but their own fees. Avoid dealing with them.
