Reading the reviews on here has made me so angry, months and months after my own experience with Fox's Lewes Rd Brighton office.
I'm not going to go into details, as these reviews are clearly read by Fox's employees who then feel the need to defend their kind, and I wouldn't put verbal abuse on the street past some of them.
Suffice to say I had a lucky escape when I removed my property from the market, and only Fox's complete disregard for the regulations they are meant to be governed by allowed me to escape without paying the various "fees" and "costs" they tried to extort from me.
The threatening and aggressive behaviour I experienced at the hands of the branch manager over the next few weeks only made me more determined to beat them, but others might have caved and paid for services which most certainly were never rendered.
When I do put my property on the market in the new year I will not be darkening the door of any Fox & Sons branch, either as a vendor or buyer. Where they are joint agents I will view with other agents, and where they are sole agents I will simply not view that property. That is how strong my feelings are, and that should be a warning to anyone thinking of listing a property with them. I cannot be the only person who is prepared to forfeit a potential dream home to avoid lining their cheap polyester suit pockets.
I shall also be doing some research to find out where the previous branch manager of Lewes Rd is working now (he's thankfully vanished from the branch), as I also will not use any other agent where he works.
In short, my experience was of money grabbing, law breaking, thuggery. And of an estate agency who live up to, and beyond, everything negative you ever hear about estate agents. I feel sorry for the nice, scrupulous agents out there being tarred with the same brush, and for the staff of Fox's who are forced to follow their outrageous practises - there must be some of you who actually agree with the people who are angry enough to take time out to write these reviews. How about getting a worthwhile job and not shafting genuine punters?

As a local conveyancer, we all know what dreadful tactics Fox (especially the Lewes Road branch), and indeed the other corporate agents, in the town resort to which basically boil down to co-ercion ... dreadful ... always use local independent agents and local independent solicitors ...
