Citiside Apartments agents will sometimes ask you for a "refundable" deposit to show you some apartments. In our case, we paid 300 pounds to view an apartment, but after paying the money, Javel (one of their agents) told us the apartment wasn't available. Then he gave us a fake receipt on a piece of paper and told us to ask the refund to a non-working email of a certain Gonzalo. Then, after a week of not having our deposit back, Javel called us saying that the deposit is not refundable.
Unfortunately we were naive, because it is a illegal to ask for a viewing fee, or deposit to show a room, and we were even more naive because we hoped to see our deposit back (since we didnt take the apartment). Well, in the end, we will go tomorrow to the Police and tell them about the situation. We lost 300 pounds in a moment of financial trouble and we are angry and sad. Thieves like Citisde Apartments (or Javel, if it was his doing) should go to jail and not be allowed to con naive newcomers to the City.

Oliver, unfortunately citiside has gone into liquidation, I suggest you contact the liquidator Edge Recovery (edgerecovery.com) about this. I also recommend you check with MyDeposit about this as they are the deposit protection company that CitiSide used. Your deposit should have been protected so it should be possible to get it back. ...
