We have had enough of these people now.
Bridges Estate agents continually misrepresented us and our interests for the entire time they had sole selling rights, we were ignored, lied to, insulted and basically forced into a position where we had to seek the help of another agent or lose our new home. It really came down to the final days of our mortgage offer.
We are disappointed because the behaviour of their employees throughout was that of people who knew they could get away with it, people who were used to treating unsuccessful sales as natural wastage, rather than as individual cases, cases of people and families who put their lives on hold, often for months, during the house buying process.
As soon as we attempted to seek the help of another agent after Bridges had recommended two unsuitable buyers in a row which resulted in two failed sales and months of our lives wasted and ignored our requests to remarket the property during both of these sagas, repeatedly. One of their agents approached the previous owners of our current home and attempted to sabotage our purchase, when they themselves were in danger of their chain also breaking down due to the delays.
Leaving them feeling quite shocked by her behaviour.
We are disappointed because the property industry is so poorly regulated and monitored that, behaviour which should be illegal can actually be considered as nothing more severe than immoral, and that apparently, is acceptable.
We are disappointed because at the hands of Bridges we have had one of the most stressful periods of our lives and our marriage and if I was to walk in to their office tomorrow, the person who tried to take my wife's dream home out from under her would just look at me and smile.
We are furious, that even though we have raised a complaint with the Property Ombudsman and the case is under review, that Bridges have tried to intimidate us with threats of legal action to recoup a fee that they didn't earn. Including filing a court Judgement against us, without ever revisiting our complaint, offering negotiations, or third party mediation.
Their Associate Director admitted to me in person (while trying to get me to knock £10,000 off the market value of our property because his poorly trained agents couldn't sell it) that he had to enforce their contract because if he didn't it would set a precedent. Basically, BRIDGES ALWAYS GET THEIR MONEY, regardless of the outcome for their customers.
We feel that the cost of raising claims against us against the cost of the actual claim shows that it is extremely important to Bridges that no one ever disputes their contract, their fee or their services. We do and its about time that we raised awareness of what we feel this company is about.
We are sure that many people before us have been scared into handing over their money after similarly bad experiences and we would like to prevent that happening to even one more person in the future.
This is just my experience, you can make up your own minds but I would recommend any other agent in the area.
Point to note: Belviour sold our place in a week with no problems.
