You and your flatmates wanted to prematurely end your tenancy agreement. If you sign up on a 12 months fixed Assured Shorthold Tenancy, than you cannot leave early unless you have a break clause in the contract that states otherwise.
There are circumstances where tenants can leave early, but on the provision that they replace themselves. Seeing that you didn't do that, you were held accountable for the rent.
As agents, we cannot authorise early termination of tenancies. It is solely under the landlords discretion if he/she allows the tenants to move out early.
As we did not manage the property at the time, all the issues at the property were dealt by with your landlord.
We always endeavour to give our tenants a minimum of 24hrs prior notice before attending the property.
