I am trying to buy a house within the next 10 weeks and have requested information on a property advertised by the Bridge of Weir branch of Allen & Harris. I was contacted on Monday only to be told that I could not see the home report prior to viewing the property. I explained my situation (ready to buy, finances organised, ready to move) and asked again if I could see the home report first so as not to waste my time nor the vendors. I was told that the vendor would be contacted regarding the release of the home report. Nothing happened.
Today I received another call from a different staff member at the Bridge of Weir branch trying to get me to view the property so once again I explained my situation. This time the member of staff claimed that company policy is not to issue the home report in advance of a viewing (although one of the other branches did exactly that yesterday having first understood the situation and realised that common sense should prevail) and when I queried the policy and explained that her colleague from another branch had "qualified me as a lead" first she then raised her voice and said that she had no intention of carrying on with this conversation nor being told how to do her job! Needless to say I was stunned that she had raised her voice to me so I asked to speak with her manager and she refused. I then (unfortunately) became very angry and upset and raised my own voice demanding to speak with her manager again. She refused to even tell me who her manager is.
I am utterly astounded at Allen and Harris' lack of care and in particular this particular female member of staff who was quite happy screaming at a potential customer and leaving me (and my new baby) in tears.
Gobsmacked!
What agent could do to change your mind?
Employ civilised members of staff and encourage a policy to actually try and sell houses for the benefit of both the vendors and the purchaser.

An estate agent, by law has to provide a home report to a Genuine buyer within a certain time scale. Most estate agents do not release home reports until you have viewed as the identifies you as a genuine buyer. Just because one branch did doesn't mean the other should.
