Despite being told my budget and requirements, and being assured on the day of the appointed viewings that these would be considered, I turned up and the agent was going to show me properties that were entirely inappropriate. He was pushing for us to change the budget, despite the fact that I had made it clear that was not feasible, and then tried to pressure me into viewing properties I definitely did not want. I was looking for a 1 bedroom flat and had explained that I would not consider studios, but still the agent pushed hard for me to view studios that were also quite far above my budget.
I attended the appointment with my (male) partner, and upon entering Black Katz, no interactions were aimed at me despite the fact that I had arranged the appointment and given the details. Having never been subject to such sexist behaviour, I was taken aback and quite offended.
Overall, this agent made no effort to listen to my requirements. There is also a section for landlords on their website in which they state that they will actively push for rent increases, despite their message to tenants about aiming for fairness and transparency.
I did not end up letting with this agent and will not consider them again.

As promised I said I would respond today. No one in the office can remember dealing with you however what I would like to say is:
1. With strong rents and strong demand from tenants we often suggest to tenants that they may wish to consider a slightly cheaper area or type of property; for example where we may struggle to secure them a 1 bed flat at a certain rent we may suggest a studio flat.
2. I can assure you that we are NOT sexist; we have women throughout the company at all levels including managers and director level with one of the founding partners being Juliette Katz.
3. We are very fair and transparent in all out dealings which includes agreeing the best terms for our client which in law is the landlord.
If at any stage you felt we disrespected you then this was never our intention and we can only apologise. Finally, if you are still looking we would love the opportunity to amend matters and do all we can to find you a flat and as a gesture of goodwill waiver our standard Administration Fees.
Best regards,
ANDREW BLACK
