We are in the middle of buying a property through this company and are thoroughly suspicious of their motives at every turn. Earlier this year we started buying through them and were told they wouldn't take the property off the market, even after our offer was accepted, unless we used their mortgage advisor and conveyancing firm. We are first time buyers and felt really bullied by their tactics. Unfortunately this sale fell through anyway, but we found another property a couple of weeks ago. When I went for the viewing I was asked to come in early so they could join me us for a scheme that would give me access to details of new properties that came in. When I arrived I discovered that this so called scheme entailed you getting earlybird info about properties, but only if I was willing to sign up with their mortgage advisor there and then!!! I got very prickly explaining that I had felt bullied like this last time and had used their mortgage advisor, who now had all our details and so would be finding our mortgage this time, seeing as we would have to go with the in house service. We put an offer in for the house and after some negotiation we had it accepted but only, get this, if we used their mortgage advisors and conveyancing firm!!! The implication was that the buyer wouldn't accept the offer unless this condition was met!!! It seems to me completely unethical that buyers should be stopped from using the mortgage advisor of their choice in order to buy a property. As I say we are first time buyers and this has definitely soured our experience. We will never use them to help us sell a property or recommend them to anyone else. Because we want this property we have to use their service but have yet to see if they are any good. But even if we get a decent service we will not be using them again because of the underhand tactics they use and the way they have made us fell throughout this process.
