Martin & Co treated us so unprofessionally.
We moved into one of their properties and within a week we recieved a letter asking us if there were any maintenance that needed doing.
We wrote to them with a list of problems and one of the maintenace problems was locking the back door. We couldnt secure the property. They ignored our letter. We rang them and was told to press one for plumbing problems or two for emmergencies.Still we got no where after following the prompts. We were also hassled by the owner of the property who kept coming round for mail even thoe the estate agent informed us that they would speak to the owner and should collect his mail from there office.
We still got hassled by the owner for his mail.
They even had the cheek to send the owner round to check the repairs when it clearly states in there contract that they deal with the repairs.
Five weeks after moving into the new property we recieved a letter telling us we had to vacate it as the owners circumstances had changed and he needed the property back.(What Inconvenience) We had to find another estate agent. The day of the checkout which was due on the 24th April at 3pm was agreed and when we did turn up for this, well the estate agent had completed the checkout that morning. We couldnt even get into the property to take meter reading for the gas, electric and water with the property keys as the lock had been changed. The owner had taken up residence of the property that morning.
We were left with estimated bills to pay as of no accurate readings could be taken. We rang Martin & Co and they informed us they couldnt do anything as the owner of the property had moved back in.
I could understand it if we were behind with our rent, but me and my partner are both in full-time employment and were up to date with our bills and services to that property. The estate agents excuse was the owner had split up with his girlfriend and needed the house back as of nowhere to live Lol. How do they think we felt? We had no where to live. However we managed to find somewhere where we are happy and now settled.
The day after moving into the new property with another estate agents, my partners mother had a severe stroke and to this day is still in hospital.
Martin and Co really put us through it as me and my partner had to take two weeks unpaid leave from work to enable us to find another property and pack up all our belongings. We asked for compensation covering all our expenses and we got a quarter of it. So we were out of pocket big time. Terrible company and wouldnt ever recommend these to anyone. Oh and by the way? we are going to court now over them as they say we owe them money of 485-00 as they gave us too much money in our compensation. What a load of rubbish!! We never recieved enough compensation and we are out of pocket. so now we have had to write down everything from the time we walked into Martin & Cos office to the day we finished with them and moved to another address with another estate agent. More inconvenience from Martin & Co.
